What Active Labor Feels Like
Contractions are now unmistakably strong and demand full attention. They come every 3-5 minutes and last 45-70 seconds. Your partner may moan, sweat, sway, or find a rhythmic position. It is common to feel nauseous, shaky, or hot.

When to Go to the Hospital
Follow the threshold you set with the caregiver. If the 5-1-1 pattern has held for an hour, or if your partner feels ready, head in. Call ahead so the hospital knows you are coming.
