Children absorb messages about money from everything they see: how you shop, what you say about work, whether you stress about bills. When parents are silent, children fill the gap with their own anxious interpretations. Make money a normal topic of conversation.
Three Jars: Spend, Save, Give
A simple system for young children is three jars labeled Spend, Save, and Give. Each time the child receives money, they divide it among the three jars. The Spend jar teaches purchasing. The Save jar teaches delayed gratification. The Give jar teaches generosity. The proportions can change, but the habit of dividing is what matters.
