Your Postpartum Sanctuary Plan
The prep work that matters most after birth
The Missing Prep Work
Most preparation before a baby focuses on the birth: the hospital bag, the birth plan, the nursery. Very little attention goes to the three months after birth, when the real intensity of new parenthood hits. A postpartum sanctuary plan shifts the focus to what you will actually need in those early weeks: food, support, rest, and clear boundaries. Planning for this before birth makes the difference between surviving and recovering.
Food and Support
Stock your freezer with easy-to-heat meals. Assign roles before birth: someone to coordinate meals, someone to gatekeep visitors, someone to run errands. A postpartum doula for overnight newborn care is invaluable.
Postpartum Essentials to Stock
Unscented maxi pads, witch hazel pads, peri bottle, stool softeners, ibuprofen, nipple cream, easy one-handed snacks, large water bottle with straw. Set up a station in every room with diapers, wipes, and burp cloths.
